JIMINY GREW UP IN A FIELD outside of Hannibal, Missouri; the middle of three children and one of the youngest among his many cousins. He was homeschooled by his mother and taught how to survive the world around him. But his curious and carefree nature - combined with a persistent urge to explore the human city just across the river - led to countless disagreements with his parents. Just after his grandfather passed, when Jiminy had nearly reached adulthood, he decided to leave, taking off east and eventually crossing into Europe.The vast majority of his early adulthood was spent as a drifter, wandering from place to place - from the US all the way to Italy - until, by chance, he was drafted into his role as the guardian of a puppet named Pinocchio who wanted to become a real boy. Dubbed an Official Conscience by the Blue Fairy, Jiminy now spends much of his time offering guidance to those who need it rather than aimlessly drifting as he used to. His real loyalty lies with Pinocchio, though, and he's almost always at the workshop looking after the boy. A WISE-CRACKING OPTIMIST with a penchant for practicality, Jiminy strikes an odd balance of well-meaning and misguided when it comes to wisdom. He’s highly intellectual, and is just as likely to tell you all about his most recent read as he is to sing you a song. Despite his pride and his temper, Jiminy makes up for his somewhat clueless attempts at guidance with loyalty and passion in equal measure. If nothing else, he's stubborn to a fault.
He stands at just about an inch or two tall and, frankly, that’s about where his similarities to other, non-sentient crickets ends. Green exoskeleton, antennae, and a pair of wings that he just about always keeps under his vest. As a self-proclaimed snappy dresser, it’s just about impossible to find him not sporting a top hat and carrying an umbrella. His talents include singing and playing the ukulele, and he dabbles every now and then in writing, keeping a journal of everywhere he's been. JIMINY IS INCREDIBLY OUTGOING and can strike up a conversation with just about anyone, about anything. He's chatty, generally easy to get along with, and very flirty, but his tendency to overthink everything - and a deep-seated doubt regarding his own abilities - leaves him cautious when it comes to deep relationships. At times, his pride causes him to lash out when he gets the impression that he's being looked down upon or not taken seriously.Please keep in mind that Jiminy is an adult at around 35 years old or so, though he is older in his toon verse. That said, his lifespan has been significantly extended thanks to his position as a Conscience and his attachment to the Blue Fairy. Though he is heavily involved in the world of magic, he doesn't fully grasp the abilities gifted to him with his job. This portrayal takes inspiration from the original movie, the educational shorts, and the Kingdom Hearts manga, among various other more minor sources, including occasionally the novel and other interpretations of Pinocchio.

MAIN VERSE.

Gifted with a greater purpose now that he’s been marked as a knighted conscience, Jiminy resumes his travels with a newfound goal in mind, providing moral advice (however unwanted it may be) and a cheerful song to anyone he thinks may need it. KINGDOM HEARTS.

Jiminy is a refugee from a world destroyed by the darkness, and upon the loss of his world he receives the title of Royal Chronicler of Disney Castle. From then on, Jiminy accompanies Sora, Donald, and Goofy on their journeys, serving as dutiful record-keeper for their adventures and the many worlds they visit. PRE-MOVIE.

Jiminy, lacking a place to settle, moves from place to place with little concern for the future and doesn’t bother sticking around long enough to get attached to anything or anyone. He’s far from callous; just more interested in being self-sufficient and practical. He’s prone to sneaking around human houses for the sake of comfort.
MOVIE VERSE.

Jiminy was dubbed an Official Conscience by the Blue Fairy and serves as Pinocchio’s friend and mentor, even after the boy turns human. For the first time in his life, he has somewhere to settle down, even if it’s difficult to escape the yearning to wander. It doesn’t outweigh his newfound responsibility for his charge, of course. Set during the 1880s. DREAMLIGHT VALLEY.

A former long-time resident of the Valley, Jiminy fled back to his realm in an attempt to escape the Forgetting. Now, beckoned back for the sake of assisting as an advisor, he spends a great deal of his time foraging and helping to keep the Valley clean in an effort to restore it to what it once was. In this verse, Disney studios exists as a sort of Roger Rabbit situation; the toons are more or less actors. Whether or not others recognize him as ‘a fictional character’ is entirely up to you. Jiminy exists among humans as a mascot and actor since 1940. By default, he will know of or at least be familiar with other Disney characters in this verse.

☆ Jiminy's role as a Conscience is less related to moral guidance and more specifically tied to his involvement with the Blue Fairy; specifically, he is there to see a wish through to fulfilment. It's the magic that sets it in motion, but most people need a little help entirely earning the wish. It's his job to stick with them and guide them onto the path of success. Technically speaking, there could be more Consciences out there, but none have been appointed in a very long time - currently he is the only one.☆ He is farsighted and uses glasses when reading. He is also less adept at flying than other crickets, even, who are not particularly gifted fliers to begin with - there is a reason his wings are often folded under his vest. That said, he is still capable of using them to chirp.
